On January 20th, 2010, approximately 40 community leaders gathered to recognize ITW Heartland of Alexandria as a Distinguished Economic Development Partner of the Douglas County region. ITW Heartland was selected to receive this recognition by the Board of Directors of the AAEDC because of their continued commitment to supporting the economic and community growth of west central Minnesota.
Since its founding in 1976 as a small fabrication shop, Heartland has been committed to reliable and consistent partnering with customers and vendors to produce complex components and full machines, along with supporting services, for customers around the world. Heartland became a division of Illinois Tool Works in 1982, and due to its commitment to innovation and excellence has been able to realize a steady growth rate over the past four decades.
ITW Heartland employs approximately 120 people in its Alexandria facilities, and specializes in precision engineering, parts, gears, and electro-mechanical products serving a variety of industries. The organization is recognized as having distinct expertise in the following fields: Aerospace, Energy, Military, Transportation, Beverage, and Automotive. ITW’s workforce includes highly skilled engineers, machinists, and assembly technicians.
The Distinguished Economic Development Partner Award was designed to honor companies that the AAEDC directly serves and works with to better our community. The award is presented to local companies that add significant economic vitality and stability of our region. ITW Heartland is committed to developing and maintaining a highly skilled workforce, continually improving cutting edge technologies that serve and support customers around the world, and investing in the community by both the ITW Heartland organization and a significant number of employees.
