ITW Heartland is pleased to announce that Shawn Green, Engineering Manager for ITW Heartland, has recently completed a one-year term as President of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties (UWDP).
United Way of Douglas & Pope Counties is focused on changing the game by connecting people, resources, and ideas to promote individual self-sufficiency; by investing in education, income and health. Through UWDP, over 40 community programs are funded in Douglas and Pope Counties to provide services to residents. Operating from a Community Impact Model, internal programming has also been created to address some of the community’s most pressing needs.
When asked about the past year, Shawn said: “I am very humbled to have been asked to serve in this capacity. UWDP is a great organization with a tremendously dedicated and inspiring staff, volunteers, and board. The organization has been very successful implementing a strategic growth plan during the last 3 years, and has achieved significant positive results in several areas. The people are truly the reason all of these great accomplishments happened. I want to recognize all of them, and thank all of them for their service to our community. I especially thank our Executive Director, Jessica Boyer, for her motivation and commitment to advancing UWDP and engaging community support on so many different levels. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve the UWDP as its president.”
“It is always a privilege to work with ITW. ITW’s employee campaign always brings such energy to the beginning of our fundraising season,” comments Jessica Boyer, Executive Director of UWDP. “Shawn is no exception. His optimistic attitude, along with his leadership knowledge and expertise allowed our organization to make significant changes in 2012/13. It was through his leadership that UWDP was able to relocate its offices; hire an additional staff member; and raise more money than we ever have in the history of the organization. He has taught me so much as president, and I look forward to the additional success we will have as a result of his ongoing presence on the board of directors.”
Additionally, through the corporate matching gift program administered by the ITW Foundation, UWDP has received a total contribution of $1,040.00 for Shawn’s volunteer hours while serving as Board President. ITW Heartland thanks Shawn for his service to the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties.
